Nostalgic Nights

I think that it was in college that I decided to get back into music.  My friends all went to university which left me with no life and a lot of time.  I remember being forced to play piano when I was younger but I don't think I ever made it past the first grade.  I think I found practicing tedious and I never understood the emphasis on sitting properly.  I did, however, like playing around on the piano, and would learn some simple one-handed songs here or there.

When I hit college, I needed a creative outlet and turned to music.  I picked up a guitar and eventually got a keyboard.  I learned the basics with the guitar, but to this day I still don't know how to read sheet music.  Instead I played around with tunes and wrote this song which I named "Nostalgic Nights".  Kind of a stupid name, but accurate as I was writing and playing it at night while remembering the songs from old JRPG's like Chrono Trigger.  It's not the greatest, but not bad considering it was done by an angsty teenager.

 Eventually I did manage to push out this crappy recording of the song which you can listen to below.  Sorry about the quality, I had to grab some audio adapters to plug the keyboard into my computer and used a terrible free audio recording program.  The program recorded both of the layers off time so I had to go in and cut some of the recording here and there to match the strings and piano.  One day maybe I'll get someone who knows how to play the piano to play it.
