Dolly Oblong - Billy Brains
I have a strong affinity for the designer toy market, but there's no way I could afford a collection on top of all my other money-sucking endeavors. Instead, I torment myself in a back and forth of "should-I shouldn't-I" for days, weeks, heck... even months. This tug-of-war ends when the toy is invariably sold out and I've missed my chance forever. This leads to very bittersweet admiration of toys long out-of-print that I imagine will follow me to my grave.
That being said, one of my long-standing regrets is this toy by Dolly Oblong. As far as I can tell, Dolly isn't a particular artist (although I could be wrong), but describes itself as a Character Design Toko. Don't ask, I'm not sure either. What I DO know is that they make adorably cute and interesting designs that end up as paper dolls, plush, or plastic figures. I have a few favourites, but the image above "Billy Brains" has a design that really clicks with me.
