2petalrose - Maiko

It has been a while since I've posted art pieces, but I stumbled on an amazing vinyl figure just today to remedy this.

While surfing on the great blog Vinyl Pulse, I ran across the Maiko figure created by London-based artist 2petalrose.  Standing at an impressive 15", Maiko is a katana-wielding geisha figure that is absolutely stunning.  It is immediately clear that a lot of love and care was given to the crafting of Maiko with the attention to detail on the figure.  To me, the Maiko figure is the perfect example of the art toy movement with very small releases for high quality figures.  Quite a few of the Maiko figures are one-offs commissioned by private collectors, including a really awesome adidas version that 2petalrose specially made for his friend.  With limited runs of 10 or 15, it's understood that I'll never be able to afford one of these pieces.  Still, I appreciate them for what they are, and wonder if one day one of these beauties will sit on my shelf.  My favourite is the Midori version shown above, but there are other great figures shown on his website.
