Camilla D'Errico
It was at the FanExpo 2010 in Toronto when my wife and I met Camilla D'Errico. We didn't know who she was, but my wife fell in love with some post cards that she was selling from her booth at artist alley. She was very nice and friendly, and I really liked her stuff. It would be years later that I found her artwork at a local print gallery. I picked up a mini art block of hers which has stood next to my computer waiting to be put up for about two years now. This means that I have looked at her print pretty much every day and I have still yet to get sick of it.
Camilla has an anime-inspired art style which she brings to life masterfully with oil paints. She creates whimsical and fantastic portraits using animals or steam-punk inspired themes. I have stumbled on her book Tampopo and appreciated her artistic take on a creating a narrative. I am tempted to get more of her art blocks, but for now I'll wait until this one beside my monitor gets put up on my wall.
