Skee Lo - I Wish
If I had no idea how old someone was and wanted to know if they grew up in the 90s, it'd be a very simple test. I would ask them to rap the chorus to this song. When people think of the 90s, the classic go-to's like 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' and 'Gangsta's Paradise' come to mind, but this is too easy. Any millenial off the street can point to 'Ice Ice Baby', only true 90s kids know Skee-Lo's crowdpleaser 'I Wish'.
While doing some light research for this post, I didn't find much from Skee-Lo following his hit single from 1995. He attempted an ill-fated come back in 2012, but otherwise hasn't been doing much. That being said, after 2 decades after its release the power of 'I Wish' can't be shaken from our hearts and minds. The official music video was finally posted onto Youtube two years ago, and has garnered over 5 million views.
