Lee Hyori - Ms. Korea
Greetings from Seoul!
Okay well sort of. I'm probably too busy eating delicious noodles to actually be typing on this blog.
So the first choice for the Korea extravaganza is a music video. A peak into my home life would reveal that my wife absolutely adores Korean culture, which means that there are often K-pop marathons every once and a while. I generally don't like a lot of the K-pop music, as super catchy sugar pop quickly becomes shallow filler noise after a few listens. Still, every once and a while there is a song that stands up to the constant plays. Lee Hyori's song 'Ms. Korea' has a sultry and beautiful sound that I fell in love with on first listen. The song is a couple of years old, which is practically ancient in the world of K-pop, but I still really like it. The swinging beat and full sound isn't drowned out by blaring electronica and I can see it being a great song live in a small venue.
Also, for those who think that I like the video because of the sexy girl dancing, you really don't know much about korean pop music. Lee Hyori is downright prudent compared to some of the other videos coming out.
