Sinfest
I began reading Sinfest off of a suggestion from friend years ago. It was the boom of the webcomic era so my plate was full, but I read a strip or two and really fell into it. The thing that is great about this webcomic, is that I have watched the mysterious and secretive creator Tatsuya Ishida grow immensely. Sinfest is my first checked webcomic and only one of 3 that have kept me as a reader. The strip touches on human relations, politics, capitalism, religion, and most recently feminism in North American culture. This may sound like a heavy webcomic, but it isn't. Tatsuya manages to keep the comic grounded and self aware. I've had moments where the strips felt a little preachy, but have never felt that Sinfest was ever pretentious. If you are on the fence about this webcomic, you should note that Tatsuya throws together a gorgeous coloured weekly sunday strip that he can pack very powerful storytelling into.
